Smurfs 2 ***

Smurfs 2 I didn't have high expectations for this movie at all. But I love Neil Patrick Harris (since doogie howser MD.) So I pretty much watch everything he is in. I am happy they kept the same human actors for this film they all did a great job even the little boy that played there son Blue. I also thought that they touched on topics that as a parent in today's world where every child has an allergy to something and the challenges in planning a party or anything around such things is almost impossible let alone you need to take a Xanax before hand. Also it touches on tough topics such as stepfather / stepson relationships which also in today's society is more common. This movie has a great message but unfortunately they didn't make it translatable to children I found that this movie was very adult and a lot of it went over my daughters head. she loved it because it is very fun and adventurous and little blue people are just down right cool. But unfortunately the whole picture was missed. I also found that the movie felt very long and drawn out a ton of monologue's before Gargamel did anything which got very tiresome. It should have more then three stars but I just couldn't give it to them because the movie was just not enjoyable to the point I was asking is this almost over yet. No one should ever be asking that while watching a movie it should be the opposite and leave you wanting more.
