Sweden VS American
I am only able to talk about the two movies because I haven't read the book yet. But I have seen both movies I seen the Swedish one first then yesterday I got to see the American one.
Sweden:
I loved the Swedish one I thought is was so well done the character development was so thorough. You really got a feeling of who Lisbeth is she was so strong had major walls up but yet there was a strange softness only few got to see. Noomi Repace didn't even look like she was acting it was more like she was Lisbeth her look her actions you believed she would wear those clothes in real life it was effortless. Mikael was a Ladies man but I believe with Lisbeth he loves her and wants to protect her but not in a "dating way" more like a father daughter way I would like to think he would never hurt her. He is the first man in her whole life that never abused her so she finally can trust a man. That's why I think she wanted to sleep with him to know what it was like to sleep with a man she trusted. I know people have said they had a hard time believing the sex between them but I think they were looking at it from the wrong point of view. It wasn't a physical attraction it was an emotional one. I also liked how they we together most of the movie trying to figure out who killed Harriet. I liked how smart they made her and how they went into her past and explained how she became a ward of the state and all the torture she went through in her life to make her the way she is. like I said the Swedish one is so thorough in all ways story, character development, and the acting is top notch.
American:
Now for the American version well before I even seen it I was skeptical about the casting of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth but I figured I'll give her a chance well I wish they wouldn't have given her the chance now that I seen the movie. I thought her portrayal of the Lisbeth character was weak and none believable. Yeah she did the rape seen well but that's the only time she had balls. the rest of the time she was hunched over like a little girl trying to hide in her hoodie. Don't get me started on the small ass dragon tattoo they gave her come on you could have given her a big back piece at least. Whoever hired the person to do her hair should be fired it was awful and distracting. The American movie wasn't dark enough and I felt it was more about Mikael Blomkvist rather then Lisbeth Salander. I mean she didn't even show up till almost half way through the movie to help Mikael and they didn't even go into her past at all except for the one part Mikael asked her how she was a ward of the state at 23. I also hated the end where they make you feel like Mikael lies to her about his plans for the night by being seen going out with his editor. I like the Swedish ending better they just leave it be. The best part of the American version was the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and the opening credits. The Character development was lacking and the story was rushed I mean it's a three hour movie and I felt we barely touched on anything.Yeah we solved the case but that about it. I left the theater unsatisfied and really scratching my head wondering were it went wrong. Again I haven't read the book yet so maybe the American version follows the book I
don't know but if I base it off just the two movies hands down Sweden wins.
