Jurassic World *****

I could not wait to see this movie I was so excited that they were making it. When I heard that Chris Pratt was playing in it I was so pumped I love him in Guardians of the Galaxy but, because of my claustrophobic eek there is a stranger using my arm rest thing I tend to wait a week or two after it comes out to see it. Unfortunately that means I have to avoid social media so I don't get told the ending. Lucky for me the only thing I saw accidentally was that some people didn't buy into the you can train a raptor which I could understand. So I finally got to go see it Father's Day and Oh My God it was so worth the wait. Here are some spoilers so if you haven't seen it STOP here. The dinosaurs were awesome the acting was great. I loved all the little touches that were put in for us movie nerds to feast our hearts on. Like them feeding Jaws to the big water dinosaur ( sorry I'm not even going to try and type all the proper names) if you want a PC article you came to the wrong place! I totally geeked out when they came upon all the old Jurassic park stuff. The fact that they had B.D Wong the original scientist really made me happy. They did right by this movie they didn't make it feel like a sequel it was its own movie it held its own . Let's not forget the epic ending with the fact that it was the original t-Rex from the first movie 😀😀😀. Now about the raptor training I totally feel it could happen they always say if you start early enough you can train anything and since they say in the movie he imprinted on them at birth I will totally believe it's possible. I also loved that they gave each raptor their own personality I could tell who was who in the movie which is so neat because when all the action is going on you knew what was happening and to who.i didn't expect it to end the way it did but all I can say is it's a pretty long movie but I wanted it to keep going I loved it and can't wait to see it again.

American Hustle **

American Hustle how did this get nominated for all those awards it was the most boring movie I have seen in a long time. I think the best acting in that whole movie was Christian Bales comb over. Jennifer Lawrence was a hot mess I think she channeled her inner Kristen Stewart she was awkward at best. I usually love Jennifer Lawrence but I did not like her in this film. Bradley Cooper was an annoying cry baby who as an undercover cop I would have thought would be smarter. Amy Adams was a saving grace in this film she did well with what she had to work with. But by no means great. Jeremy Renner was just forgettable you don't really remember him once the film is over. The story telling just dragged on and on boring you to death. You figured it out in the first five minutes then had to sit through the next hour and forty five minutes of your life wishing it would just end already. I am in just awe at how this movie could win over some of the other movies nominated.  I would have much rather seen Lone Survivor in the nomination spot instead of this drivel. I will not throw any punches this was a piece of crap. DO NOT waste you time and life on this one. I think we should choose new judges for the academy and make the judging solely based on the quality of the film and acting rather then money or political views.

47 Ronin ****

Well 47 Ronin was not what I expected in a good way. All you Keanu Reeves haters out there need to give him some credit. 47 Ronin had the best story telling I have seen in a long time. The CGI was seamless the monster were very creative and interesting. Keanu did a great job acting in this movie he didn't really speak much but he played his party perfectly you were invested in the characters you cared what happened to them you held your head high with pride and honor you felt like you were one of the 47 Ronin ready to give you life for what was right. It has been a long time since a story had captivated me so deeply. I am sad that this movie didn't get the traffic that it deserved just because it had Keanu Reeves in it but say what you want about his slow surfer speech and dumber then a box of rocks act. He had proven himself a great actor people forget there are a lot of movies that are great that he has stared in. like Matrix trilogy , Speed, The Lake House, classics like Bill and Teds excellent adventure, Point Break, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Replacements, I could go on forever but all you need to take away from this post is that you need to go see 47 Ronin and then tell ten of your friends. Cause if you haven't see it you are missing out.

Lone Survivor *****

The new Mark Wahlberg movie Lone Survivor is a must see. I couldn't wait to see this movie not because I am  huge Mark Wahlberg fan because I am but because I'm a bigger Ben Foster Fan. This movie tells just a short part of these courageous men's life but it has a huge impact. This movie restores my faith in humanity if only just a little bit. It made me really think what our soldiers go through on a daily basis and I have got to say they are stronger then me and I appreciate there sacrifice and the sacrifice of there families. I hope that this movie at least is nominated for the academy award for best film because it truly deserves it. Capitan Philips also is a true and great story but Lone Survivor pulls at the heart and gives you hope. If the Hurt Locker can win then Lone Survivor can at least be nominated. I don't want to give anything away but this movie bonds you to these people and you feel every high and low you are so engrossed into the story that I am happy to say FINALLY a movie that has amazing character development and story .... you hear me say it over and over again and finally Thank You Peter Berg for directing this beautiful piece of art. .I just hope that people take notice because it is not all hype this movie is the best war movie since Saving Private Ryan,!

Riddick ***

I know I wasnt the only person who was looking forward to this movie finally being made. I am a huge Vin Diesel fan not to mention a Riddick fan. But I may have hyped myself and the movie up so much in my head that I had doomed myself for disappointment. I have to say that I was highly upset with the cheesy lines when I heard them I just kept thinking Riddick wouldnt say that. It wasn't till maybe half way through the movie where I started to feel like I was watching a Riddick film. I understand he was suppose to be "broken" but hello this is Riddick the badass furyian who you can not hurt let alone kill. The beginning was a bit emo im not gonna lie. The dog was awesome I loved that relationship and I hated that they killed it but I understand why they did it was what Ruddick needed to get his mojo back. The casting was iffy at best I thought that the new Johns was the original Johns son not dad I mean you could have casted an older person so it would at least look possible. When I raised this point in a discussion with a friend of mine he informed me that it could be possible that a dad could look younger then his son by being in hyper sleep for a longer period of time then the son. So OK this maybe true but if your not thinking that when watching the movie you coukd be like me and say WTF how is he the dad he looks so much younger then Johns from Pitch Black and that was over ten years ago.....I did actually like Batista in the movie he did a good job I wasn't thinking oh god another wrestler is trying to act I actually didn't think that at all. I liked Katee Sackhoff in the movie I loved her in Battlestar Galactica but if she is not into men then why at the end was she all over Riddick I mean really the whole movie we had to hear how she didn't "do" men. I can't blame her I would switch teams too for Riddick but it just seemed off almost akward. The ending was solid after that I do Wish Karl Urban was in it more but they did hint that there will be another one so I can't wait to see it but I will not hype it up so much this time...

R.I.P.D **

Rest in Peace is a very good name for this movie. It started out with promise I was laughing it had some well written lines. Then around half way through it just died (no pun intended). the laughter left there were some good lines delivered by Ryan Reynold who has great comedic timing. but it wasn't enough to save this movie. I don't know who Jeff Bridges was trying to channel but he missed! He reminded me of Yosemite Sam for the loony tunes cartoons. He was just ridiculous. I wish they would have given more lines to the people who played what they looked like to everyone else because those few moments were pretty funny. Maybe before they start a movie with just an idea they should have more then the beginning written. I'm sure that's not what happened but that's what the movie portrays. They had a well written , funny beginning with a great new concept but they didn't know where to go with it. Also that big guy they were chasing in the beginning I swear to you that's the guy who played Buzz (the big brother)in home alone.I'm tiring to confirm that it is true but as of now I really just think its him. Any-who I got side tracked lol.....I didn't even like Kevin Bacon in this movie which is blasphemy because I always like Kevin but, its not his fault his charater was written half ass there was no depth to it. I don't know maybe I'm just asking to much of writer's. I have been spoiled by the great writer's of the 80's that cared about having a well rounded script. What are they teaching in film school? Maybe they should really rethink there curriculum. Because if they don't we are going to have a bunch of shallow half ass movies that bomb at the box office and you people (Hollywood folk) are going to stare with mouths a gap thinking I don't understand how did this movie fail......when will you understand you can't just put a pretty face i.e. Brad Pitt, Ryan Reynolds ....  in the lead role and expect it to cover the fact your writing sucks (unless your writing a movie like Magic Mike). I just think that this movie could have been great if they would have had a better story. The concept was cool and unique but horribly written.

added note: I was right the big guy "Pulaski" is played by none other then Devin Ratray the big brother buzz from home alone. score one point for me lol

Pacific Rim *****

I can't say enough about how much I loved this movie. It was like Godzilla vs Transformers! I just totally
geeked out about how cool the monsters were they were never the same they were always evolving. The Robots were unique to each nationality and the idea behind how they worked was so in depth. I have been pretty rough on movies lately nothing has been different all the action movies have been the same thing no plot and lots of explosions and action. Which is OK if you want to turn your brain off for a bit. But this movie is just so complex. they have great character development and back stories. You are never wondering why someone is acting a certain way or why something is happening. You pretty much just watch it unfold and enjoy the story and action. It is so rare to have both A great story and plot line with amazing action and special fx. Also I must say if you have the chance to see this in 3D I implore you to do so. It had to be the most amazing 3D movie I have ever seen. It was not just certain parts of the movie were in 3D the whole movie was and it wasn't always the pop out 3D its like the back of the screen is gone and it just opens up into the scene and you could just walk through. just amazing!. I also will have to say the acting was really good Idris Elba can really give a mean speech after his rallying of the troops I was on board and ready to fight. If you also are a fan of his like I am and you haven't watched his show Luther you must it's on BBC America. Anyway,  I also didn't think Charlie Hunnan was going to be able to hold his own off the set of SOA but boy was I wrong kudos to him cause I was pretty much saying he will never be able to move on from that show. (eats her words). I love when actors prove me wrong. So if you haven't already seen this just go out an buy the DVD because this one you will want to watch over and over again.

Redemption ***

Jason Statham is a great action star. I love to watch him but sadly all his movies he plays the same character. You know the mysterious man of few words with the surprisingly upredicted fighting skill and meticulously accurate way of conducting business or planning jobs. I wonder if casting directors read these scripts and are like we need that guy from the transporter. Also who named this movie Redemption? I don't feel that this title is fitting at all he doesn't redeem himself not even once. Yea he did some nice things with the money he made but he did horrible things to make that money so that squashes his redemption there. Then the whole nun thing holy moly that puts him in the negative if you ask me. The movie was just blah for me just more of the same. The beat part was when he finds the guy who killed his friend. I would love to see him in a movie where he plays a totally different character maybe one that smiles and jokes the whole time he has a great smile. So basically to make a long story short unless your a huge Jason Statham fan you could skip this one.

Is character developement to much to ask for?

Lately I have seen a few movies where the action was good the story OK but you didn't learn about the characters in the film. Which I don't know about you but for me that is very important (among other things like ending a movie properly lol). you could have a great story but if you don't draw your audience in with characters they learn to know and get attached to your story is going to miss the mark.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!    SPOILER ALERT!!!!

For instance I just watched The Warrior. Really great fight scenes but you didn't understand why anything was going on. Like why did the brothers not talk? why was the teacher losing his house? Why did the brother in the marines go AWOL? and why if he hated his father so much did he go to him for a place to stay? so all in all not a good movie for me. (and yes for those of you who are going to say I just didn't get it) yes I know they touched on all those subjects but I mean they barely touched them more like grazed over so fast you didn't get the depth of it. it just skimmed the surface I am just saying I like my characters with a little more depth.
I have been having a really hard time getting excited about movies lately. They are just lack luster lots of big booms , fire , and fights but really nothing deeper then that. I want an experience (I don't know about what you want I can only speak for myself lol.) I want to be sucked in and emotionally invested in the characters and the story so if one of the characters goes and gets himself blown up in one of those really big booms I will actually care. So writers please take the time to create not just excitement but a more whole and deeper picture we are not all morons I promise it won't go over are heads. Also if it is based on a book (which now a days is a lot) please DO NOT assume everyone has read it and include the little secret details and information so we understand the joke or information (like the mauder map in harry potter I had to explain to my husband how the hell professor lupin know how to use it lol) to me that is important info just saying.

Moral of my story put a little effort into your movies and maybe people will actually buy the DVD...
