Pacific Rim *****
geeked out about how cool the monsters were they were never the same they were always evolving. The Robots were unique to each nationality and the idea behind how they worked was so in depth. I have been pretty rough on movies lately nothing has been different all the action movies have been the same thing no plot and lots of explosions and action. Which is OK if you want to turn your brain off for a bit. But this movie is just so complex. they have great character development and back stories. You are never wondering why someone is acting a certain way or why something is happening. You pretty much just watch it unfold and enjoy the story and action. It is so rare to have both A great story and plot line with amazing action and special fx. Also I must say if you have the chance to see this in 3D I implore you to do so. It had to be the most amazing 3D movie I have ever seen. It was not just certain parts of the movie were in 3D the whole movie was and it wasn't always the pop out 3D its like the back of the screen is gone and it just opens up into the scene and you could just walk through. just amazing!. I also will have to say the acting was really good Idris Elba can really give a mean speech after his rallying of the troops I was on board and ready to fight. If you also are a fan of his like I am and you haven't watched his show Luther you must it's on BBC America. Anyway, I also didn't think Charlie Hunnan was going to be able to hold his own off the set of SOA but boy was I wrong kudos to him cause I was pretty much saying he will never be able to move on from that show. (eats her words). I love when actors prove me wrong. So if you haven't already seen this just go out an buy the DVD because this one you will want to watch over and over again.

Redemption ***
Jason Statham is a great action star. I love to watch him but sadly all his movies he plays the same character. You know the mysterious man of few words with the surprisingly upredicted fighting skill and meticulously accurate way of conducting business or planning jobs. I wonder if casting directors read these scripts and are like we need that guy from the transporter. Also who named this movie Redemption? I don't feel that this title is fitting at all he doesn't redeem himself not even once. Yea he did some nice things with the money he made but he did horrible things to make that money so that squashes his redemption there. Then the whole nun thing holy moly that puts him in the negative if you ask me. The movie was just blah for me just more of the same. The beat part was when he finds the guy who killed his friend. I would love to see him in a movie where he plays a totally different character maybe one that smiles and jokes the whole time he has a great smile. So basically to make a long story short unless your a huge Jason Statham fan you could skip this one.

Is character developement to much to ask for?
SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!!
For instance I just watched The Warrior. Really great fight scenes but you didn't understand why anything was going on. Like why did the brothers not talk? why was the teacher losing his house? Why did the brother in the marines go AWOL? and why if he hated his father so much did he go to him for a place to stay? so all in all not a good movie for me. (and yes for those of you who are going to say I just didn't get it) yes I know they touched on all those subjects but I mean they barely touched them more like grazed over so fast you didn't get the depth of it. it just skimmed the surface I am just saying I like my characters with a little more depth.
I have been having a really hard time getting excited about movies lately. They are just lack luster lots of big booms , fire , and fights but really nothing deeper then that. I want an experience (I don't know about what you want I can only speak for myself lol.) I want to be sucked in and emotionally invested in the characters and the story so if one of the characters goes and gets himself blown up in one of those really big booms I will actually care. So writers please take the time to create not just excitement but a more whole and deeper picture we are not all morons I promise it won't go over are heads. Also if it is based on a book (which now a days is a lot) please DO NOT assume everyone has read it and include the little secret details and information so we understand the joke or information (like the mauder map in harry potter I had to explain to my husband how the hell professor lupin know how to use it lol) to me that is important info just saying.
Moral of my story put a little effort into your movies and maybe people will actually buy the DVD...
